Final Project Interview

Question: What are your overall feelings about this web page? (Likes/Dislikes)

Antonio: I like everything.  It looks tight.  It was easy to do.  I liked helping Nikki.

Nikki: I really like working on this web page.  Although it was rather stressful I feel like I have created a webpage that my professors will be able to use in the future.  I also had a great time working with Antonio, getting to know him as he taught me how to create the web page.

Q: Did you like working with me at all or was this just a waste of your time?

A: It was fun working with Nikki.  I especially liked taking the pictures and fighting with Mr. Steve 's computer.

N: I think we spent a total of about 13 hours on this website crammed in Mr. Steve’s office and I would not trade that time for the world.  Now I must say that this was an assignment so I can’t judge if I was wasting my time but I was very grateful that Antonio took time out of his day to help me with this.  I would never say that these 13 hours were a waste of time.  It was a learning experience for me and I hope that Antonio learned something as well.

Q: Do you think that I learned anything while I was working on this project with you?

A: Of course.  I only had to show Nikki how to do something once and she was able to use it for the rest of the web page.  She learned how to do backgrounds and add music to a web page.

N: I definitely learned a lot while I was working with Antonio.  He was very patient with me and I am almost certain that I could create a great website on my own now (well maybe I would need a little bit of help).

Q: If so, how does it make you feel to know that you taught a college student how to create a website?

A: It's nice because I would think that college students already know this stuff.

N: I was hoping that Antonio would feel like a teacher rather than a helper and by the end I think we accomplished that.  I was starting new pages to link to the first page and I would only get him when I needed his help.

Q: Why do you think I chose to do this project if had no idea how to make a website in the first place?

A: I have no idea.  Maybe it would get her a good grade.

N: I chose to do this project because it required my dependence on one of the kids at the LACC.  In class we talked about a community of learning where both the kids and the adults are students as well as teachers.  It was an eye-opening experience to be taught by a twelve year-old.

Q: If I said that I was going to need you’re help again do you think you would help me?

A: Yeah.

N: I think that Antonio would help me again.  I definitely think that we bonded a little during those 13 hours.  I was absolutely fascinated by his wealth of knowledge about computers.

Q: Does it make any difference that I gave you a gift to say thank you for all the work that you put into this web page?  Where you expecting to be compensated for helping me?

A: No I wasn't expecting anything and a gift doesn't really make a difference.

N: When I asked Antonio to help me it ended up being a command from Mr. Steve.  However, Antonio never once complained about being in his office with me staring at the screen trying to figure out why something didn’t work.  I realized that I was taking up a lot of his time that he sets aside to just chill out and play.  It was for this reason that I decided I wanted to give him a gift to thank him for all his help.

Q: Do you have any questions for me?

A Little About Us:

Nikki-

I am an athletic training major at UD.  You might be wondering why I took this class then.  Well, most athletic trainers also teach some topic related to athletic training so I was going to minor in educational studies.  I realized that the minor will not fit into my schedule now but I am still convicted to become a teacher.  Renee told me once that I should drop my major and become a teacher.  I actually considered it for a while but my heart is in athletic training.  However, after taking this class I realized that I would like to do my graduate work in education to get certified to teach science at the secondary/high school level.  I would really like to go back to my high school and teach anatomy because there were 52 different languages spoken there and it embraces diversity.  Of course, I would be the trainer for the school as well.  My time at the LACC made me realize that I really like to work with kids, especially those kids who come from minority backgrounds.

Antonio-

I am in seventh grade. I go to Henrry B. Middle School.  I am 12 years old and I am in the 7th grade. Right after school I go to The Latin American Community Center, for short it is the LACC. At the LACC there is a Computer Room (I live there). I am the number 2 Techie, yea I know what your thinking what is a Techie, yea I am good huh. Well a Techie is a kid who can build a computer and pass a written test that Mr. Steve (the computer teacher) made. Well now that you know what a Techie is, as I told you I am #2, I got to be number 2 because I was the 2nd person to learn how to build a computer (you would have guessed that already, huh). Are you wondering who was the 1st person well we call him the HEAD TECHIE, and his name is (drums please) Jose Rosa.  Well I told you enough about that oh now that is it, well didn't I tell you that I lived in the computer lab, well I do because every day after school I go to LACC (which is about 3:30 or maybe 4)and I leave at 8:30 or 9 (so if you get what I mean that's a lot of time every week).

A Comment or Two About the Website:

Some of you might think that the music on this website is inappropriate for the content.  However, I would suggest that you get used to it because it is all you will hear at the LACC, especially in the computer room.  Therefore, I think the music is appropriate because it reflects the atmosphere of the LACC.
