On Friday at Barrios, I was playing for a while with a six year old named Kyle. We decided to play Connect Fous and I asked him if he had ever played before. He said he had so we started to play. I found that his way of playing was to put as many pieces in at one time and whoever made the longest lines across horizontally won. At first I thought this was a little strange and I was tempted to show him the"right way" to play. But then I thought better of it. I mean it's only a kids game. We had fun playing it his way. It's just interesting to me that it made me so uncomfortable. I think I'm learning to try new ways of doing things, to be flexible and creative from these kids, skills which I think the education system often discourages.
