Hi Ayal and everybody--

Ayal wrote, "Eugene I am unclear as to your conclusions. How does Valeries comments support Miguels hypothesis, or are you just giving a small example? If this hypothesis were to be true, what does that tell us?"

Good question. I guess it was both example and a step for research on gender differences at Barrios Unidos. Valerie provided observation that girls played Jacks that support Miguel's claim that mainly (or only) girls play Jacks. However, you are write that Valerie's observation can support also some alternative claims as well such as "boys and girls both play Jacks equally often." I was trying to say that there is no conclusive evidence pro or against Miguel's claim. In order to make it, other (the most probably) alternatives should be eliminated with evidence at hand.

I also wanted to demonstate a tool how to analyse fieldnotes (and our free write observations) in our database.

Please, let me know if you have further questions.
