I have the problem of not being able to get the names of the kids i'm working with, so i don't address them by their names until they give ma the opportunity to get their names by typing them in somewhere. After this, i can tell which gender they are, or if you don't get the opportunity to find out their names, maybe you can look to see what kind of jewelry they are wearing since girls tend to wear more than boys. (I know this can be embarrasing, i've done it myself) Sometimes, if you just give it time, you can figure out their gender by clues that are given (girls act differently than boys). My suggestion would be to give a little time until you know for sure, otherwise, don't address them in a gender-oriented way.
