May, very nice observations. I first want to commend you on your patience with the kids. I also wnat to say that your insight that some of the kids are not having fun, you are trying to help them learn and have fun at the same time, and that diffeent approaches work for different kids is very true and a very nice summary of many of the occurances that are happening at Barrios Unidos. First off, although it seems very evident that Karina and Alex had learned something (i.e. Karina with the painting software and Alex with the math), do you think that Brenda learned anything by not wanting to use the computer software and instead switiching to typing on MS word? What did you learn or not by this experience. Secondly, I thought your interactions with Alex and your use of fingers to help him work out that apple word problem is an excellent example of how co-operative learning takes place. I thought you did an excellent job of drawing out his self-agency, while at the same time being attentive to his cues and structuring your guidance according to the amount of assistance he needed. Lastly, do you think Karina and especially Alex will carry some of the experiences they've learned through their interactions with you to other contexts (i.e., do you think Alex will use his fingers when he is trying to work out a math problem at school). Nice work, Ed.
