Sharon, Most of the time, based on my visits and reading students' field notes, there seems to be more kids than students at the Barrios Unidos site. However, you pointed out that on this day that there were more UC students than kids? How do you think these differences (i.e., student vs. kids ratio) affects or not, the learning that the kids and the students may or may not experience? How has it affected or not your own learning experiences? Also, I want to commend you on your observation that your interactions with the Barrios Unidos kids do provide a context for personal and social skills to develop. Have you seen any of your own personal and / or social skills develop. If yes, which?, If not, why not? Lastly, in your last sentence of your fieldnotes you talked about "direct guidance" (i.e., she didn't receive direct guidance). What did you mean by this? Do you think you have provided direct guidance to kids? How does direct guidance differ from more informal guidance? Hope this helps, Ed.
