Interesting observation and reflecions. Could it be that when children overwhelmed (rather than bored) they try to experiment with the environment (rather than lose attention or break rules)? Did you have any evidence to support one (yours) or the other (mine) hypotheses? Do you have alternative, third explanation?
Was you resistant or supportive to child's changing the rules of the game? Why? What were your educational assumptions?
