I really enjoyed Ed's presentation on Wednesday. One point in particular that struck me was when he talked about the challenges that kids come up against in the struggle to remain in school. It was interesting and sad that parents are often times a hindrance to their kids education. He mentioned that fathers often don't encourage their daughters to stay in school. I wonder why this is. Maybe it's that they think their girls are just going to be mothers anyway, so they don't need an education. It seems like not encouraging them to stay in school would increase their chances of getting pregnant because they would think they have no other purpose for themselves. It is unfortunate that so many bright young women miss out on an education. What are some ways that these girls are being encouraged to stay in school, Ed?
