I was interested in your comments about Ana (mostly because I was there). I was also interested in why she wasn't happy with her art work. I was wondering why you thought it was due to practice. I've noticed this with a lot of the kids; they throw away what they are working on and say it is not good enough. I was wondering if it could be a self esteem issue. If Ana grew up in a way that nothing she could do was good enough, then she may begin to internalize that and hold too high of standards for herself (This is obviously a psychoanalytic view). After noticing that she was throwing away all of her art work (which I thought was actually good) I began to comment on how much I liked the picture she was working on. I asked if she would paint one for me and she said no at first, but after making a few more comments about how good I thought they were, she gave me one and seemed pretty happy about it. What do you think?
