Mercedes, nice observations. You are right, there was allot of both verbal and non-verbal communication going on between you, Ana, and Manuela. I was wondering what you thought about how choldrens learning is facilitated or not, as they come to know a person that they have been working with, like yourself and ae becomeing familar with. In other words, how much do you think familiarity plays a role in the learning that may or may not occure for the children you work with and for yourself? Also, do you ever work with any of the boys? Looking back at your field notes, the majority of your observations has mentioned working with girls. I wonder if you noticed this about yourself and about your fellow classmates. This may not be true for everyone, because 1) there do seem to be more girls at Barrios Unidos than boys, and 2) Miguel, David, Jess, Ayal, and Duane, have all written about working and playing with girls. Lastly, do you think you are learning to communicate better with the kids and them with you as you look back on your experiences? Why or why not? Nice work, Ed.
