You wrote an interesting and thoughtful fieldnote. I agree with David's feedback that it is iomportant to describe your own role in the episode.
I also want to attract your attention to your own assumptions. It is interesting that you seemed to expect children to be persistant with the game. But why? Kids may move from one game to another because they might feel overwhelmed and confused (not necessarily bored). They came to BU to play but not to solve puzzles of how to make software work. It may also take time for the kids to "get in the game." It is interesting to track (usening the Search button) if these kids returned to the game some time later. In brief, my point is that there might be "natural" development of how kids are getting in the game. And what you experienced can be a "natural" part of this process rather than a problem that has to be fixed. What do you think?
