Do you think Iban would have remained on the game if you weren't actively participating? I have also felt bored with watching someone (a child) playing a game but haven't left for feeling the child would feel deserted. I wonder if Iban was feeling the same way you were, but not letting you know for fear that you would quit playing with him. It sounds like your questions about the game are what got him interested in the first place. I wonder if you had shown to him that you were bored with the game if he wouldn't have switched to a game that you both were interested in more.
