Christie, I think that you did a great job helping Manuela. It seems that learning becomes difficult when there exist barriers of communication among people. However, I believe that it is possible to find ways to deal with this situation. For example, you could include other kids into the process of teaching and learning --inviting a bilingual child to help translate some of the words for Manuela (in this case you could learn more Spanish words, Manuela could learn more english and the other kid may learn more about the game or interpersonal relations).
