Annie, nice discussion message. Based on my own experience, I agree with you. I'm from LA, and the schools, elementary to high school, are heavily populated with kids of so many different races. I recall in elementary, I had friends from every kind of race, Asian, African American, European, Filipino, etc. Then when I went on to junior high and particularly high school, I began haning out with only Mexicans / Chicanos. This may have also been because it was in junior high when I started hanging out with a gang. But I seen it with other kids too. Segregation by ethnicity can be even seen here at UCSC.
