Hey, young children need our help as much as the older ones, so stick with it. I tend to think that we learn from every experience that we have, and young children have much more to learn. The interaction could have been a learning experience for her in the fact that she didn't have to seek you out but that you came to her to see if she needed help. This tells her that adults are there to provide help, and on a similar note, that they are friendly and care about who they are working with. You just can never tell what they might be learning, but you can be assured that they are learning something.
